Twisted Leg Syndrome

I had to deal with Twisted Leg Syndrome in a new born kittens. This is a condition kittens are born with and a result of being crowded in the uterus during development. Proper therapy consisting of exercises & gentle stretching of ligaments, can resolve this issue completely. Start therapy as soon as possible, because as kitten gets older it will get harder for it to develop.

THIS IS A MILD CASE OF TWISTED LEG SYNDROME AND VERY LIKELY WILL ONLY REQUIRE STRETCH THERAPY. SEE BELOW LINK FOR INSTRUCTION ON STRETCHING & THERAPY

In severe cases some vet intervention will be required & splint may be advised under veterinary guidance.

On today’s market there are lots of aids that can be used to splint kittens leg. It is advisable to make it so that it can be easily removed in case you need to to stretches & therapy. Continue bracing until the leg is strong enough to hold the weight of the kitten without collapsing. The photo below shows a human finger splint used on a kittens leg to correct deformity. Human finger splint can be purchased at any pharmacy.

The splints come in different sizes and with velcro fastening.
