Holistic Dog Training

I met Roman Gottfried by a chance… One of my followers mentioned Roman and I messaged Roman on FB on February of 2016 to introduce myself.

Over the past 3 years I followed Romans work and got to know him really well. He is not only kind, caring, knowledgeable, patient, informative but also has a heart & soul of gold ! His work is supported by his wonderful wife Barbara and the two recently have set out on a mission to travel across USA and educate animal shelters in retraining even the most abused animals in order for their life to be transformed and become adoptable. And you gotta love Roman’s European accent! Being European with an accent, myself, I find our accents different and unique !

This is the link to Romans’ web page… He is there to assist you with all the training needs.

HERE IS AN ARTICLE THAT Roman Wrote to guide people in choosing the right trainer…

10 Tips Before You Hire A Trainer by Roman Gottfried

So many things can go wrong when hiring a dog trainer.
•Takes to long to get the job done.
•Does not have experience with the breed.
•Makes you feel like a failure.
•Makes you do things to your dog that doesn’t feel right.
•The dog is scared of the trainer.

I hear many horror stories that make me apologize on behalf of all trainers. I usually deal with the aftermath of such incidents. Many dogs have been treated like criminals and labeled as aggressive for no reason.
For now, there is not much I can do to help people and dogs from being treated that way, other than inform pet parents.
Dog training, unfortunately, is not regulated in the USA, and animal abuse is just a misdemeanor in most states.

To reduce the risk of being ripped off or causing emotional trauma to your dog, I wanted to give you ten tips to go by and make sure you and your dog have a pleasant training experience.

1 Chose trainers that have necessary training certification. Your dog and the safety of your family is not a testing ground.

2 Hire a trainer after you’ve checked at least three references with similar behavior history.

3 Do not be afraid to interrupt a trainer if s/he does something or tells you to do something to your dog that intimidates, hurts, forces the dog, or you do not feel comfortable with.

4 Avoid trainers who offer guarantees. You cannot guarantee a child’s behavior, so how could you guarantee a dog’s behavior unless you use trauma and fear-based methods. Such trainers are either ignoring or do not understand the complexities of animal behavior.

5 Avoid trainers that reject “reward the dog” values ( food, toy, or affection), food, social interactions, and affection, because these are what dogs are motivated by.

6 Do not allow trainers to train your dog if they do not explain to you precisely what they plan to do. Changing a dog’s behavior is not successful if there is no strategy behind it.

7 Avoid trainers that force you to use aversive tools like choke chains, prong collars, e-collars, shaker cans, throw chains, etc. International veterinary schools, dog training associations, and scientific studies confirm aversive training does more harm than good.

8 Don’t trust trainers that tell you your dog is aggressive, when in fact they triggered your dog or disrespected his duties. Dog’s take responsibilities if we don’t give them proper jobs.

9 Don’t trust trainers that are telling you to dominate, challenge, or punish your dog for something you feel it was wrong. Dog’s never do things that are wrong, mistakes happen, and you need to be forgiving, loving, and respectful to your dog. Dogs only do what they believe is their duty, unless they are hungry, stressed, or fearful, and they are not in control of their actions.

10 Hire a trainer that teaches you how to improve your relationship with your dog. You should always educate your dog. Don’t let trainers do your work because if they leave you’ll be on your own.

I mentioned Roman’s wife Barbara Buck earlier. She does RECONNECTIVE HEALING…

“The universe has expanded into new healing frequencies. Some of them, like the frequency used in Reconnective Healing, reconnect people to their original fullness as human beings.

Reconnective Healing aids in restoring a more complete connection to the Universe, an essential connection lost to humanity since ancient prehistory. It reconnects us to the fullness of who we are, and allows for healing that are not just physical, mental, or emotional, but go beyond that to bring us healing that includes the evolution of our very being and essence.”
