HOW TO IDENTIFY A SPIDER BITE…

BLACK WIDOW BITE

If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a black widow spider, contact your veterinarian or emergency animal hospital immediately. I also suggest administering the homeopathic remedy Latrodectus mactans as soon as possible. A pet that has been poisoned by the bite of a black widow spider will be hospitalized and given supportive care. This may include oxygen to assist breathing and intravenous (IV) fluids to lower blood pressure. Muscle spasms and pain will be controlled with IV muscle relaxants and painkillers. Anti-seizure medications will be given as needed. Anti-venom drugs should be administered very carefully, with constant monitoring for reactions. Without the anti-venom or correct, aggressive and consistent integrative therapy (homeopathy being your best bet in these situations), a black widow bite is usually fatal in cats and also in many dogs. Your veterinarian will monitor the wound site until it has completely healed. The prognosis is often uncertain for days after treatment begins and symptoms can persist for many months.

Symptoms of a venomous black widow bite in pets include the following:

Early marked paralysis

Muscle tremors and cramping

Rigid and painful abdomen

Severely painful muscles in the back, chest, and abdomen

Difficulty breathing and/or respiratory collapse resulting from paralysis of the abdominal muscle

Excessive drooling

Restlessness

Increased blood pressure and heart rate

Loss of coordination and the ability to stand

Vomiting and diarrhea

It can be difficult to diagnose a venomous spider bite in pets because the symptoms can mimic many other conditions. Your veterinarian will do a chemical blood profile, a complete blood count (CBC), a urinalysis, and a thorough physical examination to look for marks on your pet’s skin that may indicate the location of the spider bite. Be sure to give as much information as possible, including if you’ve noticed black widow spiders around your home (indoors or out). They’re easy to spot, especially the females, which are shiny black and have a red hourglass-shaped mark on the underside of the abdomen.

RECLUSE SPIDER – SOS REMEDY

Use Peppermint oil to spray around your house. They hate it and it literally burns them up. If you do get bitten, use iodine to surround the bite so the venom does not travel outward. Keep it contained. Use a detox foot patch on the bite to suck out the venom. Use a chili sauce to kill the venom on the skin…it should burn as it is killing the venom.

MANUKA HONEY REVIEW ON AMAZON By Ro on July 2, 2014 “I had a recluse spider bite that my Dr. said I would need plastic surgery to close up damaged skin wound. I put manuka honey on a piece of sterilized gauze & taped it to the area that needed healing & it healed is about a week & when I went back to Dr. he couldn’t believe it was healed with honey. Just had a couple of basal cell skin cancer removed I did the same put some on a sterilized piece of gauze taped it to my skin with paper tape at night when I went to bed for one week & it healed the cut (wound). Dr. made to remove the basal cells & it healed without a scar it fused together can hardly tell where the incision was to remove basal cells…I love this stuff it’s so natural & I believe it would heal any wound in a short period of time..

Home Remedy for Bug Bites and Stings

#1 – Plantain (Plantago major)

Common Plantain and narrow leaf plantain are excellent for soothing bites and stings of all sorts. Simply find a leaf, chew it up (or otherwise mash it to release the juices), and apply it to the affected area. Alternatively, you can infuse the leaves in oil and use the oil for treating larger areas, or make it into a salve for portability. I used fresh plantain leaf on my yellowjacket sting, and I’ve used the infused oil on my backside when it got covered in mosquito bites. I keep a small container of the salve in my purse. If you don’t have plantain growing wild in your area, you can order seeds from Mountain Rose Herbs and other vendors.

#2 – Essential Oils

Lavender EO is the best ! No pain, no itch. Put one drop on bee, mosquito or any other bite or burn. Modern Essentials: A Contemporary Guide to the Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils also suggests the use of basil, clove, tea tree and lemon essential oils as topical treatments for insect bites and stings, and as deterrents to bug bites when diffused in a carrier oil and applied to the skin.

#3 – Sugar

Wet paper towel with some sugar on it, It will take the sting away as soon as it is applied. Hold it on for about 10 minutes, then take it off and there would be no sting.

#4 – Copper Pennies

Put a copper penny on it.

#5 – Baking Soda

Make a paste of baking soda and water. It will draw out the poison and take away the pain.

#6 – Activated Charcoal
